ho-hum: a hum-drum day

YEARS AND YEARS AGO, A DEAR FRIEND OF MINE (aka kim) was kind enough to share this video with me. sometimes i just sit and think about that video and it cracks me up. those days are what i refer to as “just one of those days, yup it is, bah bah dah dah dah, ooooooooh!”

i wore a sweatshirt to work today. inside out. and jeans. it’s just one of those days.

i didn’t do my hair today, or apply any makeup. it’s just one of those days.

nor did i wear heels. it’s just one of those days.

but the weather was super nice out. even though i only was able to enjoy it for the brief amount of time it took me to walk to and from my car and to and from subway, it was still nice knowing it was nice outside. like, if i had the option to enjoy it, it would have been an enjoyable time. although i don’t know what i would have done. i don’t really live in a part of town people would describe as “safe” (don’t tell my mom) so i probably wouldn’t have gone for a walk. although the walk to dairy queen seems safe enough.

i know what i’ll do, instead of telling you all (and by all i mean my loyal readers who do indeed read this, and as one of them (aka sarah) pointed out, i need to give them credit for actually reading this, instead of assuming people only half-read what i write) about the day i did have, i’ll tell you all about the day i would have had.

a day in the life of pretend colleen
once upon a time, oh so very recently, a gorgeous young thing of only 20, arose to the sound of children giggling in the streets as they chased a puppy through the yard. a subtle yawn escaped her lips as she stretched the sleep away. the smiling sun streaming in through her window put an unknowing smile on her face as she rose from the cloud upon which she slept.
“morning,” she said to her dog hank. the pug rolled over and waited for his morning tummy rub. colleen laughed before she said “oh alright, lazy bones.”
colleen went to the kitchen where she found her dear friend and cook miguel had prepared a breakfast of fresh strawberries, fresh-squeezed orange juice and her mother’s rollup pancakes with that yummy filling inside. “miguel, this looks fantastic, as usual,” colleen exclaimed as she sat down.
“oh, why yes of course, only the best for the princess.” miguel bowed out of the kitchen.
“such wonderful servants and friends have i,” colleen said loudly enough so miguel could hear from the other side of the kitchen door. hank waddled in and plopped himself next to colleen’s throne, wagging his little spiral of a tail from side to side. “well, hank, i think i’m going to go for a walk through the meadow, then walk through the babbling brook, over the hill and then maybe even through the woods picking berries as i go. have fun champ, i’ll catch ya on the flipside.” and with that colleen lept from the kitchen, magically dressed, and did just that.

the end.
